Lip flip · Newport News

Lip flip, and how it differs from filler.

These get confused constantly, they cost very different amounts, and they produce genuinely different results. Worth ten minutes before you book either.

01

What a lip flip is

A small dose of neuromodulator into the orbicularis oris just above the vermilion border. The muscle relaxes slightly, and the upper lip rolls outward — showing more of the pink you already have rather than adding anything.

No volume is added. Nothing is filled. It is a change in how the lip sits.

Small doses, a few units. Effect over about two weeks, and it fades faster than neuromodulator elsewhere — often closer to two to three months than four, because this muscle is in near-constant use.

02

What filler is

Hyaluronic acid gel placed into the lip to add volume, definition, or structure. It adds size where a flip cannot, it shapes the border, and it lasts considerably longer.

Our filler is priced per syringe rather than per area, from $575 for VOLBELLA XC — a 0.55 mL syringe — through $800, and every product and price is published. Most sessions use one to two syringes. There is also a Lip Refinement Program at $975, which builds lips over two sessions rather than one, because lips built in two passes look better than lips built in one.

03

Which one you actually want

You have decent lip volume and want a fuller-looking upper lip without adding any. Lip flip.

Your upper lip disappears when you smile. Lip flip addresses the muscular part of that.

You want more volume, more definition, or a changed shape. Filler. A flip will not do it and will disappoint you.

You want a subtle test before committing to filler. A flip is cheap, low-commitment, and gone in a couple of months.

They also combine. A flip alongside filler is common, and for some anatomy it is the better plan than either alone.

04

What to expect afterward

A flip can make a straw feel odd for a week or two, and some people notice their pronunciation of “p” and “b” sounds briefly. Both settle. Overdosing here causes real functional trouble with speech and drinking, which is the argument for conservative dosing and an injector who does this often.

05

Who plans and injects this

Planned and injected by Adam Medlin, FNP-BC, an autonomous nurse practitioner licensed in Virginia. Botox is $14 per unit and Letybo is $11 per unit — both published, because you should know the number before you book.

Frequently asked

Which is cheaper?

A lip flip is a handful of units — at $14 per unit for Botox or $11 for Letybo, it is a small number. Filler starts at $575 per syringe. But they are not substitutes, so cheaper is only relevant if both would give you the result you want.

Can I get both the same day?

Often yes. We will sequence them appropriately.

Is filler reversible?

Hyaluronic acid filler is dissolvable with hyaluronidase, which we keep on site. A lip flip is not reversible, but it wears off on its own in a couple of months.
