Different ink colors absorb different wavelengths, so multi-color work is treated accordingly. We treat on the Rohrer Spectrum platform, with −30°C air cooling from the Zimmer Cryo 6 to keep sessions comfortable and protect the surrounding skin. Because clearance happens between sessions, removal is a series spaced several weeks apart.

We treat on a Q-switched Nd:YAG platform (1064 nm and 532 nm). It’s most effective on black and other dark inks and treats many red and warm-toned inks. Some colors — green, blue, purple, yellow, and white — respond slowly, unpredictably, or not at all to these wavelengths. The 1064 nm wavelength is well suited to darker skin tones, with settings matched to your skin to target ink while protecting the skin around it. We won’t promise a tattoo gone in a fixed number of sessions, and we’ll tell you honestly at your evaluation when a color is unlikely to clear fully.

Full removal of a professional tattoo typically runs six to twelve sessions, spaced six to eight weeks apart. So a small professional tattoo is usually a $900–$1,800 project spread over a year or more — and a large, colorful one costs more and takes longer. Amateur ink often clears in fewer sessions because there’s less of it, sitting less deep.

We’d rather you hear that number now than discover it at session four. It’s also why we’ll tell you at the evaluation if your tattoo has colors that respond poorly — green, blue, purple, yellow, white — because “mostly removed” on the wrong tattoo can look worse than “left alone,” and you deserve to make that call with the whole picture.

The hauling is the slow part, and it happens between sessions, not during them. Treating again before the crew has cleared the last load doesn’t remove more ink; it just adds skin injury on top of skin that’s still working. That’s why sessions sit six to eight weeks apart, why smokers and people with poor circulation tend to clear slower, and why weekly sessions wouldn’t clear ink any faster — they would only add appointments to the calendar.

You usually don’t need full removal to get a great cover-up — you need enough fading that your artist isn’t fighting the old design. That’s typically two to four sessions instead of eight to twelve, at $200 per session. Tell us it’s for a cover-up at the evaluation and we’ll aim for “workable canvas,” not “blank canvas,” and coordinate timing so your skin is fully healed before your artist starts.
