The device matters as much as the plan and the hands. Here’s exactly what we run, and what each one is for.
Results in this field come from three things: the plan, the hands, and the hardware. The third is the one you can actually check, and it’s the one least often published. So here it is. Every device below is FDA-cleared, listed with what we actually use it for, and linked to the company that makes it so you can verify anything we say about it. Rohrer Spectrum
The multi-platform workhorse: IPL with four filter configurations, Er:YAG 2940 nm ablative resurfacing, long-pulse Nd:YAG 1064 nm for vascular work, and Q-switched Nd:YAG at 1064/532 nm for pigment and tattoo removal. One FDA-cleared platform, four distinct tools — which is why one machine appears on half our menu. Paired with Zimmer Cryo 6 cold-air cooling (−30 °C) for comfort and epidermal protection.

PiXel8-RF
Bipolar radiofrequency microneedling: insulated or non-insulated needle arrays to 4.0 mm, delivering fractional thermal energy into the dermis where collagen lives. FDA-cleared for electrocoagulation, hemostasis, and wrinkle treatment; its use for acne scarring is off-label, as with essentially every RF microneedling platform in the U.S. — we say so plainly on the treatment page rather than in a footnote.

The medical-grade standard in mechanical microneedling: 16-needle sterile single-use cartridges, precision depth control to fractions of a millimeter, and an oscillation rate that keeps channels clean rather than torn. FDA-cleared (510(k) K221070, 2022) for improving the appearance of facial acne scars in Fitzpatrick skin types I–V; our broader aesthetic use beyond that indication is clinician-directed, and we’ll always tell you which category your treatment falls in.

Clarius L20 HD3
An ultra-high-frequency (20 MHz) handheld ultrasound — FDA-cleared as a diagnostic imaging device, and the reason “ultrasound-guided” on our injectables page means something. High-frequency ultrasound resolves the millimeters that matter in a face: where vessels run before we inject near them, where previous filler actually sits before we add or dissolve. Anatomy varies from face to face, so we look rather than work from a diagram.

Amplifine PRP tubes
Gel-separator tubes FDA-cleared for platelet-rich plasma preparation (510(k) BK200477). A tube sounds like a trivial thing to put on an equipment page, but bulk-import tubes without that clearance are widely available and carry no review of their sterility or additives. Your blood goes back into your body; the tube it passes through is medical equipment, and we treat it that way. Supporting kit, for completeness: Zimmer Cryo 6 cold-air cooling on all laser and light treatments, a dedicated centrifuge for on-site PRP processing, and a dermatoscope for lesion evaluation before anything is removed. “FDA-cleared” describes a device reviewed by the FDA for specific uses; where we use a cleared device beyond its cleared indication, the treatment page says so.
Questions
What does “FDA-cleared” actually mean?
That the manufacturer demonstrated to the FDA that the device is safe and substantially equivalent to a legally marketed device for specific stated uses. It isn’t the same as FDA approval (a higher bar used for drugs and some high-risk devices), and it doesn’t cover every possible use — which is why we tell you when a use is off-label instead of letting the word “cleared” do vague reassuring work.
Why publish this at all?
Because “medical-grade” is a vague phrase, and specifics are the fix. When a platform is named, you can look up its clearances, its known complications, and what kind of energy it actually delivers. Ours are named, linked, and checkable — hold us to it.
Do you get paid to feature these brands?
