Neck bands · Newport News

Neck bands.

The platysma is a broad, thin sheet of muscle running from the collarbone up over the jaw. As it loses its attachment to the deeper tissue with age, its medial edges become visible as two vertical cords running down the front of the neck, most obvious when you tense or speak.

01

What treatment does

Neuromodulator placed along the visible bands relaxes them, and the cords soften. Effect over about two weeks, lasting roughly three to four months. Because the platysma also pulls down at the jawline, relaxing it can produce a modest sharpening along the jaw — the technique sometimes marketed as a “Nefertiti lift.”

The honest limit

This is a page where the limit matters more than the technique.

Neuromodulator treats the muscular component of an aging neck. It does nothing for loose skin, for submental fat, or for a jawline that has lost its structure. If your concern is skin laxity rather than visible cords, injection is the wrong tool and we will say so — RF microneedling addresses skin quality and laxity, and beyond a certain point the honest answer is surgical and we will refer you.

The neck is also an area where dose and depth discipline matter. Product placed too deeply or too generously can affect swallowing and neck flexion. Both are temporary; neither is pleasant. This is not an area for aggressive dosing.

03

Who plans and injects this

Planned and injected by Adam Medlin, FNP-BC, an autonomous nurse practitioner licensed in Virginia. Botox is $14 per unit and Letybo is $11 per unit — both published, because you should know the number before you book.

Frequently asked

Will this fix my “turkey neck”?

If what you see is cords, it helps. If what you see is loose skin, no, and no dose will change that.

How many units?

More than a forehead — the muscle is large and there are two bands. We give you the count at consult.

Is it off-label?

Yes, and well established. We disclose it rather than leaving it unsaid.
